Stock photos 101: FREE Professional Photography for Your Business.

Updated: Jan 22, 2022

Let's talk about how to find the best FREE stock photos for your content creation.

There are TONS of free content on the internet that some websites like Shutterstock charge for. While it’s awesome to support the photographers who take these pictures, you can find some of their content online the way they intended - for FREE.

FREE, PUBLIC CONTENT

  • Pexels, Unsplash, Canva are common free platforms where you can find tons of pictures and videos that completely free to use.

  • Pinterest is a great platform to build a vision board or look for inspiration pictures, but it’s also a great way to find cool photography to use for your social media.

  • Your website host may also offer free stock images for your blog content. All images featured in this post were found for free from Wix.

CHANGE UP YOUR SEARCH TERMS:

  • If you’re looking for a picture of happy, women who are friends having fun, instead of searching “group of friends” or “women having fun”, try searching “women laughing”, “women friends”, or “women brunch”. If you can expand your search criteria you can find different content you wouldn’t have found otherwise.

BONUS HACK: Finding it for free.

  • When you find a picture on Google, you can right-click on the picture if you’re using Google Chrome as a browser, and press search on Google. This will pull up the image anywhere else it’s on the internet. This is a great way to check if the photographer who posted the picture for free for others to use.

STOCK IMAGE PRO📸

Create your own stock photography (use daylight, water reflection, screen reflection) if you need specific photography of products you have on hand

**If you’re using free stock photography, it’s always a great idea to give credit to the creator by using their name in the caption of your photo, tagging them in the pic, or tweeting them a thank you, which is usually prompted when you download a picture.

WHAT DO I DO WHEN I HAVE ALL THESE COOL PICTURES?

Now it’s time to start planning your posts! Get organized. Start looking at pictures as good background pics, pics you can use as an entire post, pics you can edit and pair with text - this is where the content creation starts to happen!
