Top 5 ways to stand out in an oversaturated market

Updated: Oct 12

As I sit down to write this article, I'm hearing, "It's all been done before darling." in an older, confident, and very well-to-do woman's voice.

The truth is, even markets that aren't over-saturated are full of people pretty much doing the same thing. That's what belonging to an industry means. You're in the same business as everyone else in that industry with you. That can be daunting in itself. So, building your dream business in a market that is not only full but considered crowded can be all out discouraging.

Today we take a look at 5 ways to overcome and stand out from the crowd.

1

The very 1st step is to conduct market research. Get an idea of who's already doing what you're preparing to do. What do you like about their business model? What would you do away with? What seems to be working for them? This is all very important information when it comes to setting yourself and your business apart from the competition. Get to know your market.

2

From there, you want to create a unique value proposition: Figure out what sets you apart from the competition and make sure that’s front and center in your messaging. What value are your providing and how are you doing it differently than everyone else is? This should be the focus of your marketing.

3

Next, invest in quality content: Quality content helps you stand out from the crowd and build trust with your target audience. Not only is it a tool to increase your visibility and credibility, but it also helps prospective clients get to know you and your brand on a more intimate level. The truth is, people do business with people they like. So don't forget to build your personal brand while you're building your business.

4

Utilize social media: This ties in with our last point. Establishing a presence on the social media channels that your target audience frequents will be by far the most effective way to stand out. Creating content that is engaging and valuable for the people you serve is only half the battle. Getting it out there and in front of them is the other half. Social media's superpower is getting information to a targeted audience FAST. Use it to your advance.

5

Last but not least, focus on customer service: Make sure that your customer service is top-tier so that customers have a great experience with you from beginning to end. This will go a long way in helping you stand out as well as getting you organic leads, referrals, and traffic by way of word-of-mouth. People talk...they may as well be talking about how amazing you are.

It has definitely been done before. AND people are still doing it right now. But it hasn't been done by you. That's the only thing you really need to stand out in a saturated market. Do it your way. Make sure it's drench and covered in Y.O.U.
